the help of a professional designer?
Being a do it yourselfer rarely brings any recognition
~~ let alone praise ~~
for a job well done.
And that’s just wrong.
You’ve put in more hours of blood, sweet and tears researching and implementing and perfecting multiple aspects of your private practice, and you deserve to know when someone appreciates — even admires — your efforts.
So that’s why I’m giving the first ever No Hype Best DIY Website Design Awards in July.
To be eligible, all you need to do is submit your website for consideration, with the following information:
- your name and practice type (coach, counselor or ND)
- your website url
- the webhost you’ve used (e.g. Hostgator, GoDaddy, WebStarts, WordPress, etc)
- an honest confirmation that you indeed built your site with no designer or expert help
- and approximately how long your site has looked the way I will see it (e.g., live for 2 months / 7 years, etc)
This award is based strictly on design, not on content. I won’t be commenting on your marketing message per se, just looking at format, color, graphics, and other design features that contribute to the visual brand identity of your website and thereby of your private practice.
Judging will be based on the follow criteria:
- immediate visual impact
- use of color
- use of fonts
- use of photography, clip art, social media and directory badges
- inclusion of sticky features like sign up forms, audio & video
- page design (columns, links, emphasis, eye flow, placement of text relative to background, etc)
- personality / “energy feel” of the site
